Influence of Non-Conductive Probes on Specific Absorption Rate

چکیده
Introduction: An increasing number of interventional studies are being developed in which minimally invasive procedures are performed using MRI guidance [1]. Thin and precisely controlled devices, guided wires, and sensors facilitate these during MR scanning. While several studies have reported the MR safety-related issues of metallic devices and wires [2-4], the influences of non-conductive devices on the specific absorption rate (SAR) of surrounding tissues are rarely investigated. In this study, we show that even non-conductive probes, e.g., fiber optic thermal/pressure sensors, catheters, etc., can affect SAR.

Influence of hydrothermal treatment on the dimensional stability of beech wood
Hydrothermal treatment of wood material products with many interesting properties such as enhanced dimensional stability, lower equilibrium moisture content and increased biological durability. The effects of hydrothermal treatment on dimensional stability, oven dry density and water absorption of beech wood (Fagus Orientalis) naturally grown, has been studied in present research that extremely...
متن کاملEffect of non-acoustic properties on the sound absorption of polyurethane foams
In this paper the influence of non-acoustic properties on the sound absorption coefficient of polyurethane foams as a porous medium is investigated. Biot’s equations with transfer matrix method, as the solution approach are employed to evaluate the sound absorption coefficient of selected polyurethane foams. The major issue is the dependency of non-acoustic properties on each other which makes ...
متن کاملParacellular Absorption Is Relatively Low in the Herbivorous Egyptian Spiny-Tailed Lizard, Uromastyx aegyptia
Absorption of small water-soluble nutrients in vertebrate intestines occurs both by specific, mediated transport and by non-specific, passive, paracellular transport. Although it is apparent that paracellular absorption represents a significant route for nutrient absorption in many birds and mammals, especially small, flying species, its importance in ectothermic vertebrates has not previously ...
متن کاملImproving Radar Absorbing Capability of Polystyrene Nanocomposites: Preparation and Investigation of Microwave Absorbing Properties
Microwave absorbing materials are usually designed to solve protection against electromagnetic interference in wireless communication systems and high frequency circuit mechanisms. In this research polystyrene (PS) nanocomposites containing various nano-fillers were successfully synthesized. The novelty of this work is comparing of three various nanostructures: non-metallic conductive graphene ...
متن کاملMeasure and calculation the specific absorption rate due to 900MHz waves in the brain, skin, fat and bone tissues
Introduction: Communication between mobile phones and antenna BTS (Base Transceiver station) is carried by electromagnetic waves. Energy associated with these waves can be absorbed by biological tissues. so Widespread use of these devices has generated public concern about exposure to electromagnetic waves. In this study the electric field intensity and specific absorption rate...
